ChordSymbol Fonts and Call for Symbols ================================== ChordSymbol Fonts and Call for Symbols Two useful music analysis fonts, ChordSymbol v. 1 and CSTimes v. 1, are available in both TrueType and PostScript versions, for either Macintosh or Windows. ChordSymbol is a symbol font that features a wide variety of analytical symbols, including roman numerals and letter names, figures and slashed figures in three tiers (the most common combinations of which can be entered using a single keystroke), accidentals, careted scale degrees, and much more. CSTimes is a text font containing the most frequently used analytical symbols from ChordSymbol while retaining all alphabetic characters and most diacritical markings needed for foreign- language words. Both fonts may be used in word-processing applications like Microsoft Word, notation applications like Coda Finale, and multimedia development applications like Claris HyperCard. The TrueType version, which prints optimally on all printers, may be used with Macintosh System 7 or later (or System 6.0.5 with the Font/DA Mover 4.1 or later and the TrueType INIT) and Windows 3.1 or later. The PostScript version may be used with Macintosh System 6 or earlier with the Font/DA Mover 3.8 or later, and with Windows 3.0 with the Adobe Type Manager 2.0 or later. Single copies (of both fonts together) are priced at $24.50; site licenses (which may be mixed; simply specify the numbers of each version or operating environment you require) are priced as follows: 15-copy site license, $94.50; 25-copy site license, $144.50; 40-copy site license, $194.50. Please add the appropriate processing/mailing fee--$5.00 U.S., $6.50 Canada, $10.00 overseas--plus sales tax, if applicable. The fonts may be ordered by sending a check, money order, or purchase order made out to John R. Clevenger--U.S. funds only, please!--to: John R. Clevenger 300 Alexander, Apt. C-18 Rochester, NY 14607 U.S.A. Please include your name and full mailing address, institutional affiliation, phone number(s), and email address with your order. CALL FOR SYMBOLS: Input on the makeup of two highly specialized music analysis fonts now under development, SetTheory v. 1 and TheoryHistory v. 1, is sought. SetTheory will contain set-theoretic and other symbols useful for the analysis of atonal music. TheoryHistory will contain symbols useful for historians of theory, such as the Riemann function symbols. Any contributions, from general suggestions to detailed lists or illustrations of desired characters, would be most welcome. The two fonts are due out in the fall of 1997. Please send such contributions to the address listed above or via email to . +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+ Copyright Statement [1] *Music Theory Online* (*MTO*) as a whole is Copyright (c) 1997, all rights reserved, by the Society for Music Theory, which is the owner of the journal.
