Applications are invited for this post, tenable from 1 October 2001, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointee will hold a University Lecturership (CUF) in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at St Anne's College and a Stipendiary Lecturership at St Hilda's College.
The University and the Colleges are seeking candidates with a proven record of scholarship and research in any area of musicology and with the potential to enhance the high reputation that the Music Faculty has in research and teaching. An interest in performance-related studies might also be an advantage. The appointee will be expected to have a record of successful teaching and will be required to teach at both undergraduate and graduate level.

POSITION/RANK: Professor in the Research of Musical Performance, which will be filled for three years, 1 August 2002 - 31 July 2005
INSTITUTION: Sibelius Academy
QUALIFICATIONS: A general qualification requirement for the position is that the applicant shall have such skill and ability that is required for successfully attending the position.
A Professor shall have academic competence in the actual teaching field, good teaching skills and practical experience in the field of the position.
The academic merits of the applicants shall be assessed taking into account his or her ability to conduct research, scientific research work of the applicant and other material of scientific value, and other academic merits and degrees.
Pedagogic skills especially supervising research, practical experience of teaching in the field of the position, the ability to produce university-level teaching material, and other merits in teaching, shall be considered when assessing the teaching skills.
The following shall be regarded as special merits:
A foreigner and a non-native Finnish citizen may be appointed to the position regardless of not having proven the linguistic proficiency mentioned above. It shall, however be deemed a merit to have command of English.
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: The Professor in the research of musical performance shall perform research. He or she shall also guide scientific work, handle and develop teaching in his or her field, and monitor developments in the field and research in the field. Furthermore he or she shall
