QUALIFICATIONS: The Department of Performing Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a one-year temporary faculty position beginning fall semester 2004 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Masters degree in music required; Ph.D., DMA, or ABD preferred. Candidate may hold advance degrees in any music area, but must show success and ability to effectively teach majors, minors, and non-majors in music.
JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate general education courses in music (courses in general music appreciation and opera appreciation), teaching in music theory area (including ear training courses and music fundamentals), other courses in the candidate's specialization, student advising, including mentoring women and minority students, and service to the department.

Music: Lecturer in Music Theory (one-year position). The University of Texas at Tyler is accepting applications for a full-time Lecturer in the Music Program. This is a non-tenure-track, one-year position. The appointment will be for the 2004-2005 academic year.
Responsibilities: undergraduate theory and aural techniques classes, upper division music theory, applied instruction in area of expertise (woodwind, brass, or percussion preferred). Knowledge of applicable music technology is expected.
