Baylor University announces the position of Assistant Professor of Music Theory, a tenure-track position that begins in August of 2005. This person will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, maintaining an active program of research in music theory, and participating in the musical and academic life of the School of Music and the University. Two Full-Time Positions in Music Theory to begin Fall, 2005
Mannes College of Music, a division of New School University, seeks to create up to two full-time faculty positions in music theory and related skills, pending budgetary approval. The successful candidates will be musicians of depth and accomplishment (a record of significant publications or comparable professional achievement) who are experienced in and dedicated to teaching music theory and related subjects primarily to intermediate and advanced undergraduates and master�s performance students, and who wish to participate in the long-range development of the Techniques of Music curriculum at Mannes. They will be proficient in Schenkerian theory and experienced in teaching intensive courses to develop the abilities of students to do analyses on their own. They will be willing to work within the established Mannes curriculum and participate in the evolution of that curriculum over time; and will have demonstrated leadership potential. Candidates should also be willing and able to teach special topics courses in the Arts in Context curriculum at the Eugene Lang College, or elsewhere within New School University.
Additional areas of specialization and teaching ability (such as 20th-century music history and/or analysis, music history, composition, performance, or advanced aural skills and/or keyboard harmony and/or score reading) will enhance candidates� applications.
Qualifications: An earned doctoral degree in music theory, completed by the time of application, at least five years teaching music theory and related topics at the college level, and an appropriate record of professional accomplishment (refereed publications or comparable achievement in composition or performance). Candidates who are ABD at the time they apply will not be considered.

Assistant Professor in Music Theory
The School of Music at the University of British Columbia seeks to appoint a
music theorist to a full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant
Professor. The position starts July 1, 2005. The person selected will
demonstrate a high level of skill at teaching and potential to conduct important
research. Preference will be given to candidates who provide convincing evidence
of expertise complementary to that of current faculty, such as in music
cognition, the history of music theory, or musical repertoires of emerging
scholarly interest, including popular music, jazz, world music, or early music.
In addition to offering graduate and undergraduate courses in areas of
specialization, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the
six-semester undergraduate music theory core curriculum in the School of Music,
and to supervise graduate students. This position is subject to final budgetary
approval. The person filling it will be the fourth member of a faculty group
with a commitment to excellence in teaching and doing music theory that extends
back over three decades.

Music Theory Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Chicago
The Department of Music of the University of Chicago invites applications for a
post-Doctoral fellowship in music theory from outstanding candidates who have
completed their Ph.D. in 2001 or later. In exceptional cases, the successful
candidate will be in the final year of finishing the dissertation. The fellow
will teach three music courses (normally one per quarter), distributed among
undergraduate and graduate courses as appropriate, and will otherwise be free to
pursue research and writing. The tenure of the fellowship is for one academic
year, beginning on 1 September 2005. The salary is $35,000, plus medical
