Institution: University of Illinois Position: Assistant Professor General Information: Proposed Starting Date: August 16, 2006. Assistant Professor, regular full-time, tenure-track position (pending budgetary approval). Please refer to Search #10208. Qualifications: The Composition/Theory Division seeks an outstanding composer with demonstrated excellence in teaching music theory, analysis, and composition. The successful candidate will be expected to combine an active artistic career with a commitment to teaching composition and theory courses, which are shared among the entire Composition/Theory faculty. An earned doctorate by August 16, 2006, is expected, although extraordinary professional accomplishment will also be considered for those without the degree in hand by that date. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach courses in composition, tonal and 20th-century theory and analysis at the graduate and undergraduate levels; teach graduate seminars in areas of expertise. Maintain a high level of professional activity. Supervise independent projects, theses, and dissertations. Participate in service to the School of Music, the University, and the profession as appropriate for tenure-track faculty.
