Institution: Oberlin College Conservatory of Music Position: Aural Skills and Music Theory General Information: The Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, tenure- track faculty position in Aural Skills and Music Theory, beginning with the 2008-09 academic year. The appointment is to be filled at a rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: • Evidence of and commitment to excellence in the teaching of Aural Skills and Music Theory. One or more year(s) of full-time teaching experience (beyond the graduate assistant level) is preferred. • Completion by June 2008 of Ph.D. or D.M.A. • Evidence of ongoing scholarly productivity in the field of Aural Skills or Music Theory. • Keyboard competence. • Special consideration will be given to candidates with Dalcroze certification. • Background in performance or composition indicating active and accomplished musicianship. Job Description/Responsibilities: The individual appointed will perform the following specific duties: • Teach aural skills courses. • Participate fully in departmental placement examinations and meetings as scheduled, and in responsibilities such as private readings and supervision of Theory Majors’ Senior Projects. • Teach courses drawn from the core theory curriculum, according to the needs of the division.
