Institution: Hofstra University Position: Assistant Professor General Information: Date of Appointment: September 1, 2008 Rank and Salary: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track. Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. in Music Theory with a strong background in tonal theory (especially from a Schenkerian perspective)and post tonal theory; ABD considered. Experience in college-level music theory instruction, a record of professional and scholarly activity and a growing reputation within the scholarly community required. Additional expertise in other academic areas of music, especially American Popular Music and/or Musical Theater, desirable Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in Music Theory, such as Harmony, Ear Training, Species and/or Eighteenth-Century Counterpoint, Tonal and Post Tonal Analysis and other Music Theory courses depending on areas of specialization. Salary Range: salary dependent upon experience and qualifications.
