Institution: University of Arizona Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory General Information: The University of Arizona School of Music is seeking a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor in music theory. Applicants should be able to provide quality instruction to a diverse student body and be interested in advancing the theory department through research, recruitment, and curricular development. The School of Music offers a range of degrees, including the BA, MM, and PhD in theory. This position is pending Provost approval. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate or ABD in music theory Knowledge of current theories of music and their application Evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level Evidence of potential for sustained research and publication Evidence of commitment to excellence in teaching Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in music theory Successful collegiate teaching experience Successful record of creative research and publication Expertise in using technology for instructional purposes Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory Maintain a record of creative scholarly activity Assist with the graduate theory program, including thesis/dissertation advisement and seminar-level instruction Participate in curricular development for the theory program Help recruit students to the graduate theory program Service at the School and/or College level Salary Range: unspecified Items to Send: Interested parties should apply online through the University of Arizona Human Resources website.
