Institution: University of Illinois Position: Associate or Assistant Professor General Information: FACULTY VACANCY Music Theory and Musicianship Associate or Assistant Professor, full-time, tenured or tenure-track position. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications: The School of Music seeks to appoint an innovative scholar-practitioner in musicianship pedagogy. A doctorate in music, college-level experience teaching musicianship, and a strong research profile are required. This is the first of several positions with which the School of Music plans to redefine music theory education for the 21st-century musician with a strong commitment to pedagogical innovation. Job Description/Responsibilities: Coordinate and help define innovative undergraduate curricula in music theory and musicianship. Teach courses in theory, musicianship and analysis at the graduate and undergraduate levels; establish a cognate in theory within the graduate program; teach graduate seminars in areas of expertise. Maintain a high level of professional scholarly activity. Supervise independent projects, theses, and dissertations.
