Institution: Carleton University Position: Assistant Professor General Information: Carleton University's School for Studies in Art and Culture (Music) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning 1 July 2008. This is a tenure-stream position for a theorist/composer with specialization in jazz and/or popular composition. Applications should include samples of work done in the field. Qualifications: Involvement with electronic technologies of composition and/or jazz history would be considered assets. Applicants must have a Ph.D., a strong commitment to scholarship reflected in publications, an active research profile and demonstrated excellence in teaching. Job Description/Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of courses in music from first year to the M.A. level, to develop a portfolio of significant peer-reviewed compositions and/or publications, and supervise graduate students.
