Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory (Full Time, Tenure Track)


Qualifications:

Qualifications: A completed doctorate is required. A record of successful and effective college-level instruction in undergraduate theory and musicianship and in graduate-level theory and analysis courses is required, as is a strong record of research activity. Keyboard skills sufficient for classroom instruction and demonstration activities are required. Interest and experience in music technology, especially with application to theory instruction, is preferred. Additional preference will be given to candidates who have interest and experience in Schenkerian analysis. The successful candidate will exhibit a strong and genuine commitment to excellent teaching and to the continuing pursuit of scholarly distinction.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Description /Duties: The School of Music seeks an outstanding scholar-teacher in music theory to teach and coordinate graduate and undergraduate courses in theory, analysis, and musicianship; teach graduate seminars in areas of expertise; maintain a high level of scholarly activity; serve on graduate thesis and dissertation committees; work with colleagues to continuously refine and improve the program of instruction in the theory area and the School of Music; and contribute to university and professional service.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits include health and retirement contributions.
