Institution: Boston University Position: Rank is open General Information: Full-time professorial position in theory and aural skills. (Although rank is open, applications at the junior level are especially welcome.) Start Date: September 1, 2006 Qualifications: A dynamic teacher of music theory and aural skills; completed doctorate in theory; strong musicianship skills; minimum of three years university level teaching experience desired; evidence of significant ongoing activity or exceptional promise as a theorist; secondary area of interest in computer applications or performance desirable. Candidates will be expected to meet the traditional requirements of excellence in teaching, creative work or scholarly research, and service to the University and the community. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate level theory courses; administer and provide leadership to the aural training program; supervise research projects at the masters and doctoral levels; mentor student professional development; and actively pursue creative and research activities. Participate in the life of the department, committees, admissions, and recruitment. Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
