The Department of Music at Dalhousie University invites applications for a 10-month full-time limited term appointment in Music Theory at the Lecturer/ Assistant Professor level, effective August 1, 2011.

Qualifications:

Candidates will have a Ph.D. in music theory or composition (preferably in hand by the time of appointment, although ABD candidates may be considered) and will possess teaching experience in the area of music theory with demonstrated excellence. Duties in the Dalhousie’s undergraduate music program will include, but will not be limited to, teaching core music theory classes in harmony, analysis and counterpoint, as well as participating in administrative duties within the department. Ability to teach a large-enrolment class on popular music before 1960 may be considered an asset.

Candidates will have a Ph.D. in music theory or composition (preferably in hand by the time of appointment, although ABD candidates may be considered) and will possess teaching experience in the area of music theory with demonstrated excellence. Duties in the Dalhousie’s undergraduate music program will include, but will not be limited to, teaching core music theory classes in harmony, analysis and counterpoint, as well as participating in administrative duties within the department. Ability to teach a large-enrolment class on popular music before 1960 may be considered an asset.
