Institution: University of Chicago Position: Lecturer General Information: The Department of Music at the University of Chicago invites applications for a full-time position as Lecturer in Music Theory to begin July 1, 2012. The successful applicant must teach a course load of six courses per year (fall, winter, spring) on the quarter system. Principal responsibilities will be to teach an entry-level course sequence in music theory and to supervise its graduate course assistants, who will be responsible for teaching aural skills and keyboard labs. Other undergraduate courses and occasional graduate non-seminar type courses may make up the remaining course load, depending on departmental needs. Renewal is contingent upon successful review. This position is contingent upon budgetary approval. Qualifications: The successful applicant will normally have completed the PhD in Music Theory by July 1, 2012. Previous experience teaching music theory at the college level is required.
