Institution: Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Position: Commensurate with education and experience General Information: The School of Church Music at Southwestern Seminary invites applications for a full-time position in composition beginning in the fall of 2012. Rank is commensurate with education and experience. Review of applications will begin November 15 and will continue until the position is filled. Qualifications: Doctorate in Music Composition preferred (ABD or significant experience considered) with demonstrated success in teaching on the college level; proven record of achievement and promise of developing a national reputation as a composer. Job Description/Responsibilities: Maintain an active career as a composer through performances and publications; teach composition and, as needed, courses in undergraduate and graduate music theory; and direct graduate and undergraduate composition and research. The candidate must be able to articulate and incorporate in teaching a biblical philosophy of music in life and ministry. The candidate must also possess an exemplary Christian character and be in agreement with Southwestern’s mission, philosophy of education, doctrinal statement, and standards of community life.
