Institution: Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music Position: Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Music Theory General Information: The Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a tenure-track position, open rank, in music theory. Expected start date: 08/01/2013. Qualifications: The department will review applications from both junior and senior scholars. Junior applicants should have an emerging national reputation in publication, teaching, and service; senior applicants should be nationally and internationally known and have demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service. The music theory department is committed both to excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and to promoting scholarship in new and existing areas in the discipline. A completed Ph.D. degree in music theory or its equivalent is required. Other qualifications include a record of scholarly accomplishment, an active program of research, and experience in both graduate and undergraduate teaching, including the direction of research. Experience in teaching large courses for undergraduate majors is an asset. Job Description/Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in music theory; supervising research in area(s) of expertise; maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; and participating on departmental committees, doctoral advisory committees, and in other departmental activities, as well as service on Jacobs School of Music committees. Salary Range: Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The search committee will consider both junior and senior applications.
