Institution: Oberlin College Position: One-year teaching position General Information: The Conservatory of Music at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time, one-year position in Music Theory and Aural Skills, beginning with the 2006-07 school year. Qualifications: Commitment to excellence in the teaching of Music Theory and Aural Skills; one or more years of full-time teaching experience (beyond the graduate assistant level) is preferred; Ph.D. or ABD (terminal degree PhD) in Music Theory or Composition; keyboard competence; evidence of scholarly productivity in the field of Music Theory; background in performance or composition indicating active and accomplished musicianship. Job Description/Responsibilities: The incumbent will teach courses drawn from the lower-division theory sequence, which involves four semesters of harmony, voice leading, and analysis (concentrating on music of the eighteenth through the twentieth centuries); teach Aural Skills courses linked with the corresponding courses in music theory; and participate fully in departmental placement examinations and meetings.
