Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

General Information:

The Department of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor of Music (Tenure Track) in the area of Music Theory starting in Fall 2014.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in music theory or theory/composition and have a record of successful university-level teaching in music theory and aural skills. In addition, candidates must be active researchers within the field of music theory (including presentations at professional conferences and/or publications in scholarly journals) and show potential for continued research productivity.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities involve teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in music theory and aural skills. Other courses will be considered based on the candidate’s experience and specialization. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active program of scholarly research and participating on university committees, as assigned.
