Institution: University of California, Los Angeles in Musicology Department

Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The Department of Musicology at UCLA seeks a theoretically sophisticated scholar-teacher of diverse interests and extraordinary promise for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2014. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply, and candidates are encouraged, in their letters of application, to highlight research and teaching activities that demonstrate a strong commitment to the needs and perspectives of disadvantaged populations. The department is fully open to all research specialties, and is particularly interested in candidates with more than one research specialty.

The Department of Musicology is in the Division of Humanities at UCLA, in the College of Letters and Science, and is also aligned with UCLA’s Departments of Music and Ethnomusicology within the Herb Alpert School of Music. Given this unique set of alignments and our faculty’s history of interdisciplinarity, candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant interdisciplinary experience.

Application materials may be submitted via UCLA Academic Recruit, the university’s online academic employment recruitment system, at the following address: https://recruit.apo.ucla.edu/apply/JPF00090. Required materials include: a letter of interest addressed to UCLA Musicology Search Committee Chair, a current CV, and three confidential letters of reference sent on your behalf (link and login information to be provided upon receipt of application letter). To ensure full consideration, all materials, including letters of reference, must be received by November 30, 2013. UCLA is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. This posting is subject to pending budgetary approval.
