Institution: University of Oklahoma Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory Qualifications: Ph.D. in Music Theory. Record of successful teaching in music theory to undergraduates and graduates. Record of scholarly achievement in music theory. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate classes for music majors in the area of music theory; advise masters' theses in music theory; engage in scholarly research and publication; help recruit masters' students in music theory; serve on doctoral committees in the School of Music; and participate in the governance of the School of Music. The OU School of Music offers degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, and is the only comprehensive music program in Oklahoma. The School of Music presents 400 performing and scholarly events each year with 61 full-time faculty members and 450 undergraduate and graduate students. The School of Music is part of the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts, one of 19 colleges within OU. The University of Oklahoma is a major national research university with 30,000 students. Norman, a community of 103,000, is located twenty minutes south of Oklahoma City, a metropolitan area exceeding 1 million.
