Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The Department of Music Theory, History, and Composition at West Chester University, seeks a full-time tenure-track faculty member at the starting rank of Assistant Professor. Start-date is August 2014.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in music theory, composition, or musicology by the date of appointment, a record of successful teaching in theory and musicianship, and evidence of creative and/or scholarly activity.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include teaching courses in music theory and musicianship. Additional teaching assignments may include music appreciation, composition, orchestration, counterpoint, music technology, music analysis, thesis, or other related music courses. The faculty is expected to provide academic advising, serve on committees, and be active in research, performance and/or creative endeavors. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to develop online course content and whose expertise complements the faculty in areas of potential growth (such as non-Western music, interactive performance, music cognition, film, media, and/or commercial composition, etc.).
