Institution: Appalachian State University Position: Lecturer, Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor General Information: The Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track nine-month faculty position to begin in August 2014. Qualifications: REQUIREMENTS: Evidence of accomplishment as a composer and university-level teacher required. Doctorate completed by September 15, 2014 required for appointment to tenure track; other applicants will be considered for appointment at the rank of Instructor or Lecturer. Preferred qualifications include the following: significant experience with current hardware and software used in contemporary composing; experience as an ensemble director. Job Description/Responsibilities: POSITION: Outstanding teacher and composer with responsibilities for individual instruction in composition at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Other responsibilities will be assigned according to the successful candidate\'s qualifications and may include teaching of electronic music, orchestration, 20th-century music theory and analysis, or philosophy of music, or direction of an ensemble such as a new music ensemble or steel band.
