Institution: University of North Georgia Position: Assistant Professor Qualifications: Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in music theory or theory/composition and have a record of successful university-level teaching in music theory and aural skills. Candidates must be active researchers within the field of music theory (including presentations at professional conferences and/or publications in scholarly journals) and show potential for continued research productivity. Candidates with demonstrated expertise in applied studio teaching, music technology, or jazz/commercial music will be considered over those without such a qualification. Essential qualities for this position are exceptional teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills. The position may require teaching on more than one campus. Job Description/Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities involve teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in music theory and aural skills. Other courses will be considered based on the candidate’s experience and specialization. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active program of scholarly research and participating on university committees, as assigned. The ability to teach using current music and classroom technology is required, to include teaching of fully online courses.
