Institution: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Position: Assistant Professor (2 positions) General Information: The Music Department of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks to enhance its scholarly strengths by filling two tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. The mission of the Department is described at http://music.unc.edu. Qualifications: Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. by August 2006; a record of successful classroom teaching and a strong potential for scholarly publication are required. Job Description/Responsibilities: One appointee will be expected to teach in the area of music theory, the other in ethnomusicology; such teaching will be at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Research interests should be consonant with, but not necessarily limited to, the areas of analysis, aesthetics, music technology, ethnography, or critical theory.
