Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Department of Music at the University of California, San Diego, is searching for an accomplished and innovative composer with expertise in computer music. This position is for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor to begin on July 1st, 2015.

The ideal candidate will have an international profile as a composer, predominantly of computer music, including electro-acoustic and electronic works that demonstrate mastery and innovative use of both fixed media and live electronic processing of instrumental and/or vocal sources. The position involves teaching undergraduate courses such as Basics of Computer Music and History of Electronic Music as part of the Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts (ICAM) program. On a graduate level, the appointee would be expected to teach courses that support the interdisciplinary character of the department such as Survey in Electronic Techniques and Seminar in Live Computer Music, as well as courses which reflect the candidate\'s research interests and creative practice. Possible research interests could include: computer-assisted composition; performance and improvisation (including machine listening); hardware and/or software design and engineering; and intermedia works. Applicants should possess an advanced degree and be qualified to supervise Ph.D. candidates in our Composition and Computer Music Research programs.
