Institution: The University of Tulsa Position: Assistant Professor (tenure-track) of Music Theory/Composition General Information: Position starts August 15, 2015; 9 month continuing tenure-track appointment. Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a PhD or ABD (completed by August 2015) in Composition or Music Theory with emphasis in Composition. Evidence of accomplishment as a composer, experience in current compositional technology and previous experience as a teacher of theory and composition at the university level is required. Preference given to candidates with woodwind, brass or percussion performance and teaching backgrounds. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teaching duties may include freshman and sophomore music theory and ear training; upper level theory courses (analysis and counterpoint), film scoring and/or compositional courses. Additional teaching opportunities are possible depending on the needs of the School of Music and the candidate’s qualifications and interest.
