Job Description/Responsibilities: The Department of Music seeks candidates for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Musicianship for Fall 2015. The successful candidate will participate in the leadership and vision of our many innovative and successful school-university partnerships and initiatives; teach courses central to the curriculum; participate in recruitment and retention efforts; represent the program and university at national and international conferences while maintaining an active research agenda in the region; and participate in faculty governance and professional service activities. The tenure-track faculty load is 3/3 though research productive faculty will receive a reduced teaching load of 2/2. We seek individuals with ability to teach in our innovative core curriculum -a sequence that synthesizes theoretical principles from a broad spectrum of music including European "classical" traditions, jazz and popular musics, and global music traditions, while emphasizing the practical application of those musical concepts, with special attention given to the aural skills necessary to recognize and analyze musical sound and construction.
