Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree in music theory or music education Two years or more college-level teaching experience Experience in curriculum development, course design and evaluation Demonstrated experience in student recruitment Demonstrated experience in conducting for musical theatre Demonstrated experience in music arranging and composition preferred Online teaching experience Demonstrated experience in implementing current and emerging technologies in the classroom Demonstrated experience with marketing, event coordination and fundraising Memberships and associations with music-based professional organizations Demonstrated experience in community engagement Job Description/Responsibilities: Essential Duties: Teach full-time classes as assigned and scheduled Hold regular office hours to advise and assist students Serve as a student advocate for careers and professional activities in the performing arts Comply with all Board policies and administrative regulations The music instructor works alongside music and theatre faculty members to maintain, develop and lead a creative and robust performing arts program. The music program’s core values are centered on providing students with a highly personalized education including courses in music theory, classical and contemporary music studies, instrumental and vocal instruction, technical production and performance. The instructor’s primary responsibility is to provide high quality instruction, assist the Dean of Performing Arts with departmental responsibilities, advise students, coordinate annual music festivals and performance events and maintain departmental budgets and college procedures. Demonstrated experience with student recruitment in an academic setting is highly valued.
