Institution: University of Minnesota School of Music Position: Instructor (full-time) General Information: Full-time, nine-month position as Lecturer in Music Theory (academic year 2015–2016) Qualifications: Pursuit of music theory at the graduate level is required; Ph.D. or ABD is preferred. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teaching The position is predominantly teaching focused and requires a record of pedagogical expertise and excellence. The load will be the equivalent of five three-credit semester courses, including: • Undergraduate tonal theory/ear-training core courses (term three during the fall, term two during the spring), plus supervision of teaching assistants. • Post-tonal Theory II during the fall semester. • A Topics in Music course each semester, for which enrollment is open to both graduate performance majors and upper-level undergraduate majors. School of Music/University Service Participate in School of Music committees, faculty governance, and other related areas of service. Scholarship and Creative Activities Scholars whose interests complement those of our faculty not on sabbatical will be preferred. Salary Range: Commensurate with experience, plus benefits.
