Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Completed doctorate in music theory by August 2016;
Strong pedagogical skills;
Mastery of musicianship;
Minimum three semesters college teaching;
Flexibility to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate theory and aural skills courses;
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
Experience with instructional technology;
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2 or more years college teaching experience;
Demonstrated potential for excellence in research;
Knowledge of current pedagogical trends;
Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The State University of New York at Fredonia seeks a talented, collegial, and enthusiastic teacher for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Music Theory to teach in a large and renowned school of music with over 600 students.The successful applicant will teach core graduate and undergraduate courses in the School of Music to a wide range of students including majors in performance, music education, and composition. The applicant will also be expected to share in administrative duties, serve on committees, contribute to curriculum development and refinement, maintain an active research agenda in the field of music theory, and follow all university policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:

Teach core graduate and undergraduate courses to a wide range of students including majors in performance, music education and composition;
Be expected to share in administrative duties;
Maintain an active research agenda in the field of music theory;
Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
Provide academic advisement to students;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
