Institution: University of South Carolina Position: Assistant Professor of Composition and Theory Qualifications: Doctorate in music composition (DMA or PhD; ABD also considered), with demonstrated success teaching college-level music theory; proven record of achievement and promise of developing a national reputation as a composer. The School also seeks applications from candidates who have interest in and experience with community engagement, music entrepreneurship, music leadership, and/or other non-traditional career models. Job Description/Responsibilities: The Assistant Professor of Music Composition and Theory will be expected to maintain an active career as a composer through performances, recordings, publications, etc; teach courses in undergraduate and graduate music theory as well as composition; help direct concerts of contemporary music and student composer concerts; and direct graduate and undergraduate research as needed.
