Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

The School of Music at Kennesaw State University seeks an energetic individual with a distinguished record as both a music theorist and a theory pedagogue. This is a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2016.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in music theory completed by August 1, 2016, or the foreign equivalent, or its equivalent in ability, training, and/or experience; demonstrated excellence in full-time college teaching (at least one year beyond the graduate assistant level); and the potential for, or record of, scholarship as shown by publications and conference presentations. Candidates should have fluent keyboard and aural skills.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Duties will include the teaching of core undergraduate theory and aural skills courses, upper-division electives in areas of the candidate’s specialization, and possible online courses. Other duties include an active program of scholarly research, professional service, and the advising of theory majors.
