Institution: Missouri Western State University Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory General Information: Tenure-track position starting August 2016. Job Description/Responsibilities: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF MUSIC THEORY- The Department of Music is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach and coordinate the department’s music theory and aural training sequence, beginning August 1, 2016. Teaching duties will include undergraduate fundamentals of music, theory and analysis, aural skills courses, form and analysis, contemporary techniques, and arranging. Other courses may be included, depending on the applicant’s strengths and departmental needs. REQUIRED: Completed doctorate in music theory or composition, demonstrably excellent full-time college teaching experience (at least one year beyond graduate assistant level), and potential for scholarship as evidenced by publications and/or conference presentations. PREFERRED: Background in theory pedagogy, with experience teaching both fundamental music theory and aural training. Employment is contingent upon proof of the legal right to work in the U.S. An appointment is not final until all documents are provided.
