Institution: Shenandoah Conservatory

Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

General Information:

Shenandoah Conservatory is seeking nominations and applications for an exceptional musician, theorist, and collaborator to join the Conservatory Academics faculty as Assistant Professor of Music Theory. This full-time and career-contract track 12-month position begins August 16, 2017.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications include an exceptionally promising scholarly profile as evidenced by a record of conference presentations or publications, a demonstrated passion for teaching, and interest in joining and advancing an intensive scholarly and performance-oriented community. Candidates must have a completed PhD in Music Theory by August 15, 2017.


Job Description/Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities will be teaching undergraduate courses in music theory and ear training, and graduate seminars. The successful candidate will join colleagues in further advancing the Conservatory’s reputation as a vibrant center for excellence in music training, collaborative performance, and authentic and innovative work tackling issues at the intersection of the performing arts and contemporary society. An active contribution to service on school-wide committees, participation in division meetings, and assistance with administrative tasks within music theory curricula is also expected.
