Job Description/Responsibilities: The University of Kentucky School of Music in the College of Fine Arts is seeking candidates for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in music theory. Applicants must have a completed PhD by August 1, 2017, a proven record of successful and creative teaching (at least 2 years of successful academic teaching at the college level is preferred), and clearly demonstrated activity within the professional field of music theory. We especially seek candidates whose research interests complement those of the Division of Theory and Composition—desirable interests may include (but are not limited to) electro-acoustic music, analysis of world music, and music cognition. Primary duties will include (1) teaching: courses within the undergraduate written and aural theory sequence, upper-level undergraduate, and graduate-level courses; (2) research: maintaining creative scholarly activity as defined in the School of Music’s criteria for promotion and tenure; (3) service: active participation in assigned service activities, including advising, graduate committees (e.g., master’s theses, DMA monographs, and PhD dissertations), curriculum development and assessment, and other duties as assigned that contribute to the School of Music and the University.
