Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• The applicant must hold a Doctorate in Music Theory at the time of appointment

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• The applicant must have one year of teaching experience at the university level (graduate teaching may be considered)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to mentor and advise graduate students in music theory
• Expertise that intersects with other fields and interdisciplinary studies
• The applicant must have a significant record of scholarly publication and presentation
• The applicant must have a significant record of excellence in teaching at the university/college level and experience integrating technology into instruction. Basic keyboard skill expected

Job Description/Responsibilities:

DESCRIPTION

The Department of Music seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor of music theory with demonstrated potential for growth and distinction in university research and teaching. Area of research specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise that complements that of our current theory faculty. Duties include research, publication, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, graduate advising, and participating in departmental governance. As a faculty known for its interdisciplinary culture, we encourage applicants whose scholarship and teaching can engage students across sub-disciplines in music, as well as across our campus. The department welcomes applications from those whose interests go beyond the Western canon. The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. Applicants must meet the following qualifications:



Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
