Job Description/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate should have a commitment to teaching in the liberal arts tradition and show a potential for scholarly/creative engagement. The Sunderman Conservatory seeks a well-rounded music theorist capable of teaching foundational theory and upper-level courses that include analytical techniques, orchestration and arranging, or counterpoint. We are especially interested in candidates whose approaches to music theory are culturally inclusive, diverse and informed by current trends in music theory pedagogy. The successful candidate should also be prepared to teach in one or more related areas of expertise based on the candidate’s qualifications and program needs. Faculty members at Gettysburg College teach a 3/2 load. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a scholarly/creative profile and engaging in all activities associated with a tenure-track music position: student advising; admissions-related responsibilities; participating in shared governance, and other forms of institutional and community service.
