Position: Assistant Professor

General Information:

Interdisciplinary Arts Assistant Professor, tenure-track; salary commensurate with qualifications. Two positions available.


Qualifications:

-Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching.

-Demonstrated interest in engaging multiple artistic and/or cultural forms.

- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in appropriate field; will consider ABD if complete by August 2017.

-A research and teaching specialization that incorporates cross-disciplinary investigation of arts, culture, and/or inter or multi-media. Work that addresses music, dance, theatre, engineering, computer science, or psychology, and deals with questions regarding perception cognition, neuroscience, or interactivity, a plus. We especially seek candidates whose work operates at the nexus of research, theory, and practice. The applicant should be grounded in an interdisciplinary approach to her or his scholarship and should be able to work collaboratively across disciplines.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

- Contribute to a distinctive interdisciplinary, multi-arts curriculum shared by three arts specializations (Music, Theater, and Visual Arts) at graduate and undergraduate levels by means of teaching, curriculum development, and service responsibilities.
- Maintain active program of research I creative scholarship, teaching, and service.
- Pursuit of external grants in support of research or creative activity, when appropriate and available in the faculty
member’s field, is encouraged.
- Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department,
college, and university is expected.
