Position: Visiting Lecturer in Music Theory

General Information:

The College of Music of the University of North Texas announces a position in Music Theory Lecturer (one year renewable).

(Non-Tenure Track)

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Music Theory, or equivalent degree at time of appointment; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching.

Applicants are expected to have considerable experience in core-music theory instruction, including large-lecture classes. Experience in distance learning (web-based, blended), and in specialized instructional software development and application is highly desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Duties: Teaching of core classes in the four-semester music theory sequence; teaching of upper-undergraduate level classes, such as form analysis, 16th- and 18th-century counterpoint, Schenkerian analysis, and 20th-century techniques. Further instructional assignments at the graduate levels (Master\'s-level theory pedagogy and doctoral seminars) are possible, depending on the applicant\'s area of specialization. Further assignments may include administrative responsibilities, such as TA/TF supervision and coordination of Aural Skills classes, participation on thesis committees, and participation on committees at the level of the division, college and university.

Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
