Institution: Wabash College Position: Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor of Music Theory (part-time) General Information: One-semester, part-time appointment, to begin January 8, 2018 Qualifications: M.M. or equivalent required; ABD or PhD preferred. Music theory teaching experience, commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, an appreciation for the broad intellectual community of an excellent liberal arts college and an understanding of the role of music within a liberal arts education, and the ability to work with a diverse student body required. Job Description/Responsibilities: WABASH COLLEGE invites applications for a one-semester, part-time appointment as Visiting Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Theory to begin January 8, 2018. This part-time position consists of teaching 1 undergraduate course (Music 302: Theory III) during the Spring 2018 semester, to include both written theory and aural skills (3 contact hours for written theory and 1 contact hour for aural skills per week). Written theory includes analysis of late 19th-century, post-tonal, and atonal music, set theory and 12-tone technique, as well as a capstone unit on Classical and early Romantic sonata form. Aural skills includes sight singing and dictation. The position does not include additional benefits.
