Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Music preferred, D.M.A. considered (degree in hand by September 2018); Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level as well as scholarly research. Applications from candidates with experience in piano performance, coaching ensembles, and/or instrumental conducting are especially welcome.

Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Department of Fine Arts invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Music to begin fall 2018. The Department consists of five full-time faculty across three areas—Music, Art History, and Studio Art. We seek an outstanding music teacher-scholar with a strong interest in performance who will complement and augment the strengths of our faculty. The College’s Fine Arts Major with a Music emphasis offers students several options: Performance, Music History, Music Theory, Composition, Conducting, and Music Education, as well as a general music track. Primary teaching responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s area of expertise, but could include introductory music courses, music history and theory sequence (including aural skills), individual music lessons, Computer Music, World Music, and interdisciplinary seminars for non-majors. The successful candidate will also teach Conversatio, a multidisciplinary first-year course providing every Saint Anselm student a shared learning experience in the Liberal Arts. Finally, the successful candidate will share in the administrative duties of the department, as well as the Music program, and participate in its growth and development.
