Education: Earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution in a visual or performing arts discipline related to those offered in the college. Job Description/Responsibilities: Belmont University and the College of Visual and Performing Arts are seeking applications for a new Associate Dean position to begin August 1, 2018. The Associate Dean will serve as a member of the College of Visual and Performing Arts leadership team and report to the Dean of the College. CVPA includes the Department of Art, Department of Theatre and Dance, and the School of Music. Each area is accredited by the National Arts accrediting organizations of NASAD, NAST and NASM. Teacher certification programs in Arts disciples are accredited through CAEP. The Associate Dean will serve as a collaborative leader in a positive, collegial environment with college department chairs, directors, staff, and academic leaders from across campus. The Associate Dean will work to develop and implement academic curricula, procedures, and processes pertaining to curriculum development and revision; accreditation reporting and planning; assessment/assurance-of-learning activities; student advising practices/academic affairs; and faculty development in the College. The chosen candidate will accomplish these tasks while demonstrating a strong commitment to the vision, values, purpose and strategic priorities of the University and the College. This 12 month, tenure-track faculty appointment will teach in the college and be granted time for administrative responsibilities. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in an Art, Theatre, or Music discipline. Job Functions: • Enhance the current academic curriculum and lead the development of innovative new curricula and educational opportunities in the arts within the college and the liberal arts educational framework (BELL Core) of the university. • Coordinate all assessment processes in CVPA and lead the development of meaningful, consistent assessment throughout the college. • Plan, support, and guide college accreditation activities for all disciplines in the college (NASAD, NAST, and NASM), as well as represent CVPA in university accreditation (SACSCOC) activities. • Provide support and solutions for student academic related issues • Coordinate internal faculty development and training for Adjunct Faculty (Lecturers and Part-Time Faculty) within the college. • Cultivate and sustain relationships with Chairs and Directors in the college, along with the Registrar and other academic leaders across campus. • Work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students to advance the goals of the college within the mission and vision of the university. • Teach three courses annually in a college related discipline or signature BELL Core courses. • The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.
