Institution: University of North Texas Position: Assistant Professor General Information: The College of Music invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2018. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in music theory at time of appointment; expertise in music of the twentieth and/or twenty-first century; demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching; an active research agenda. Preferred qualifications: engagement with recent theoretical approaches; expertise in the analysis of repertoire beyond the common practice such as popular music, jazz, film music, post-tonal music, or music and new media; experience in on-line or blended course development. Job Description/Responsibilities: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, including courses in areas of specialization and core theory courses; maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; recruiting students into the graduate program in music theory; serving on undergraduate and graduate advisory committees (BM, MA, PhD, and DMA); serving on divisional/college/university committees; and other duties as assigned by the Division and/or College.
