Institution: Rhodes College Position: Assistant Professor of Music; Director of Instrumental Studies General Information: The Department of Music at Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position of Instrumental Activities/Music Technology and Composition to begin in August of 2018. Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching and scholarship at a liberal arts college and will be expected to maintain an active program of scholarship (research and/or creative activity), which will be supported by start-up funds for scholarship and an office. Possibilities for additional support for scholarship include summer research funds and travel funds. Teaching responsibilities will include five courses a year. Candidates must have completed all requirements for a terminal degree in the appropriate areas of concentration by July 2018. Candidates with college teaching experience are preferred. Job Description/Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in instrumental conducting or composition. Preference will be given to candidates whose creative practices include some of the following: teaching in Songwriting, Popular Music, Audio Engineering, Arts Entrepreneurship, and/or Ethnomusicology (African American Music in particular). Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience.
