Institution: Hobart and William Smith Colleges

Position: Visiting Instructor or Assistant Professor of Music (Music Theory)

General Information:

One year, non-continuing visiting position.

Qualifications:

Candidates are sought who have recently completed or are nearing completion of the doctoral degree and who have experience teaching at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to candidates having experience and affinity with a small liberal arts academic environment. A background working with underrepresented populations and/or inclusion of underrepresented populations throughout student coursework are desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Department of Music at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a one-year, visiting position in music theory at the rank of instructor or assistant professor, beginning July 1, 2018. The Department seeks candidates who have the ability to teach various courses in the standard four-semester theory sequence, as well as a rudiments course and a liberal-arts music topics course.

Founded as Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women, Hobart and William Smith Colleges today are a highly selective residential liberal arts institution with a single administration, faculty and curriculum but separate dean’s offices, student governments, athletic programs and traditions.
