Institution: Morgan State University Position: Contractual Faculty Position in Music--Ear-training and Aural Skills General Information: A contractual full-time appointment from August 2018 to May 2019. Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Qualifications: Candidate must have at least a Masters degree in music and have experience in teaching sight-singing and/or musicianship; must have university/college-level teaching experience, preferably at a minority or urban university, and a strong commitment to diversity, the liberal arts and possess a high degree of performance experience in the field and the ability to contribute to the educational mission of the department and the university. Job Description/Responsibilities: To principally teach courses in Aural Skills/Ear-training, and to assist in other areas that may be needed from semester to semester, including teaching courses in music theory and/or accompany students for Juries and Recitals. A full-time contract is defined as 12 semester hours. In the Music Program, Morgan currently offers the Bachelor of Arts Degree in music, with two tracks - teaching and performance, and the Master of Arts Degree in music. The National Association of Schools of Music, as well as the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools accredit the Music Program. Of Morgan\\\'s nearly 8,000 students, one hundred and twenty-five (125) students are music majors and 300 are regularly enrolled in music courses through ensembles, lessons and course work. The music faculty includes 12 full-time and 10 part-time faculty members. The Music Program and the Fine and Performing Arts Department are located in the new Carl J. Murphy Fine Arts Center, which supports the departmental programs and brings cultural events to the College and the northeast corridor of Baltimore. The centerpiece of the Murphy Center is the James H. and Louise Hayley Gilliam Concert Hall, with over 2,000 seats. With this fine facility, which also includes three other performance spaces and the James E. Lewis Museum of Art, Morgan\\\'s Music Program competes successfully with other music programs in the city, state and nation.
