Institution: Harford Community College Position: Music Faculty - Theory and Composition General Information: This is a 10-month term appointment faculty position scheduled to begin August 15, 2018. Term appointments are eligible for renewal based on satisfactory job performance and funding. Qualifications: A master\'s degree in music theory and/or music composition and one year of full-time teaching experience at the college level are required. Doctorate and experience teaching in a community college setting are preferred. Applicants must have knowledge of and ability to teach various music software including Finale, Sibelius, Reason, and Melodyne; recording and editing experience using Pro Tools is a plus. Other requirements include the ability to take the lead in course and program assessment; the ability to assist in the evaluation of part-time music faculty members; experience recruiting and mentoring; and experience developing and working within a budget. Experience in curriculum development and course scheduling is preferred. Faculty members are required to have demonstrated competency with current technology and learning management systems while possessing the aptitude and ability to resource new and efficient technology impacting student outcomes as needed. The ability to interact with students and potential students outside the classroom environment in discipline-related activities, effective communication skills, and a well-articulated understanding of the role of community colleges and their students are required. Candidates will be asked to validate teaching experience. A teaching demonstration will be part of the interview process. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Job Description/Responsibilities: The faculty member is responsible for teaching all aspects of Theory I-IV, including part-writing, ear training, sight singing, etc., and Introduction to Electronic Music.
