Position: Assistant Professor in Music Theory

General Information:

Position and Title: Beginning to mid-level Assistant Professor in Music Theory; full-time, tenure track. Starting date: September 1, 2007

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Music Theory required. We are open to all areas of research specialization but are especially interested in applicants who work in: 18th and 19th-century music; popular music; critical approaches that cross traditional disciplinary boundaries.

Experience in university-level teaching, especially imaginative pedagogy, is desirable.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

Teach graduate and undergraduate level theory courses; supervise research projects at the masters and doctoral levels; participate in theory curriculum and aural skills program development; maintain significant record of scholarly research.

Salary Range: salary commensurate with qualifications and experience

Graduate degrees are available in performance, jazz studies, and music education. Graduate degrees in theory/composition, music education, and musicology are offered in conjunction with the Graduate School in New Brunswick. There are ten performance ensembles and chamber music opportunities. The faculty consists of forty full-time lines and a number of part-time positions.
