Institution: University of North Texas Position: Assistant Professor General Information: The College of Music invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2019. Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in music theory at time of appointment; excellence in college-level teaching as demonstrated by service as a faculty member and/or teaching assistant; an active research agenda. One successful candidate will have expertise in music before 1750; the other will have expertise in music after 1900 and in methodological approaches that complement current faculty. In both cases, such expertise will be evidenced in a PhD dissertation and/or scholarly publications. Preferred qualifications: experience in on-line or blended course development. Job Description/Responsibilities: Duties will include: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, including courses in areas of specialization and core theory courses; maintaining an active program of research and scholarly publication; recruiting students into the graduate program in music theory; serving on undergraduate and graduate advisory committees (BM, MA, PhD, and DMA); serving on divisional/college/university committees; and other duties as assigned by the Division and/or College.
