Institution: Indiana University Position: Visiting Assistant Professor of Music/Postdoctoral Resident Scholar (Music Theory) General Information: Non-Tenure Track Expected Start Date: 08/01/2019 Qualifications: A completed Ph.D. degree in music is required. Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. from an institution other than Indiana University no later than August 1, 2019, but no earlier than five years prior to that date. Job Description/Responsibilities: The Jacobs School of Music seeks candidates for a two-year, full-time visiting assistant professor/post-doctoral resident scholar in music theory for the academic years 2019-2021. The resident scholar will teach one course per semester, and during the first year will also offer a series of workshops in their area of expertise. In addition, they will be expected to conduct an active program of research, attending and participating in scholarly conferences, submitting articles to academic journals, and/or developing a longer-term project. We envision this position as a way of enriching our department while providing an environment in which an emerging scholar can develop their work. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests complement and diversify those of the department. The scholar will work with a faculty mentor to develop a concrete plan for engagement with the Indiana University community, and to launch a productive and successful career in the field of music theory. Salary Range: Visiting Assistant Professor; salary is $42,700 with an annual $2,000 research and travel budget, and eligibility for the health and retirement benefits available to all fullâ€time faculty.
